Maureen Forte is a proud mother of two professional grown daughters. Her oldest, Monet Forte’-Wilson, is the first woman to be elected Alderman in Calumet City in 128 years and is also the mother of her two handsome grandsons. The oldest grandson is a graduate of the Class of 2025 Morehouse College, and the youngest is an 8th grader. Her youngest daughter is a Registered Nurse and Certified Licensed Baker.

Maureen is an active member of Trinity United Church of Christ, where Dr. Otis Moss III serves as pastor, and she is a first alto in the Sanctuary Choir.

She is the niece of the late civil rights icon, Rev. Fred L. Shuttlesworth. Reverend Frederick Lee Shuttlesworth, often referred to as “Freddie,” was a prominent leader in the civil rights movement. Martin Luther King, Jr. hailed him as “the most courageous civil rights fighter in the South.” Shuttlesworth’s commitment to the cause came at a steep price, as he faced beatings, a murder attempt, multiple arrests, and the bombing of his home for his activism. Trained Deputy Registrar with an estimated 4,500 trained Deputy Registrars under my organization, of which 1500 are ex-felons.
